Control Cable Measuring and Installation Guides:
For New Installation:
Measure the A + B distance from the control along an unobstructed cable routing to the clutch and/or throttle connection. Round this dimension off to the next whole foot and you will have your cable length. We recommend that the cable bends have a minimum radius of about 8" (200 mm). For outboard engine cable installations, it is necessary to add three (3) feet to obtain the length, in order to allow the engine movement.
Outboard Measurement
A + B + 3' (90 cm) = L
Inboard/Sterndrive
A + B = L
For Replacement Installation:
Measure the length of the previous cable from tip to tip. When ordering, specify the cable length in feet, rounding the dimension off to the next whole value. If any kit is required to complete the cable installation, contact your Boating Solutions customer service representative.
